Gaming is nearly universal for Gen Alpha, but the differences underneath that number are where every real brand decision actually gets made.
What’s inside Level by Level
Most research on Gen Alpha focuses on a narrow slice of the generation. Level by Level covers the full active gaming span, from young kids ages 5 to 7 through tweens 8 to 11 and into teens 12 to 15. That range shows how gaming behavior, identity, and influence actually evolve as kids grow up, cohort to cohort, with the age and gender breakouts brands need to plan around real differences instead of a single kid audience.
The report includes 60+ data sets covering gaming behaviors, habits, and motivations across young kids, tweens, and teens. Every data set is available through KidSay’s Trend Tracker dashboard with filters by age, gender, race, and region, plus open-ended responses so your team can go deeper on the audiences that matter most.
Topics covered in this report
- Gaming frequency, devices, and console ownership by age and gender
- Favorite and most-played games across each cohort
- How kids discover games and what convinces them to get one

Real Kids, Not Just Panels or Proxies
Level by Level draws from KidSay’s Trend Tracker studies, with a nationally representative sample of 1,800 U.S. kids ages 5 to 15. Results are reported for the total sample and by cohort (young kids 5 to 7, tweens 8 to 11, teens 12 to 15), with boys and girls reported separately within each cohort. KidSay’s school network serves as the primary recruitment source for kids ages 8 and up, delivering direct intelligence from real, age-verified kids. Research with young kids ages 5 to 7 is proctored by adults with explicit instructions not to infer responses, and calibrated to their developmental stage.
